*Update! We have been able to identify this set as being Distinctive by Stanley Furniture. When you think of high quality wood used in construction mid century modern furniture, what species of wood do you think of? Walnut? Rosewood? What about Mahogany?
Genuine mahogany is rare because it is only grown in Central and South America. Mahogany is notable for its color, stain and durability. It has a pleasing wood grain and is very durable as it is insect and water resistant.
This particular set has a lighter tone than you may associate with mahogany because it is bleached mahogany with a black speckled "fly specks" finish. Another unique feature of this dining set is that there is a nested leaf that you can opt to use, or it perfectly fits three leaves. There are three leaves (12 inches each).
This set of mid century modern chairs have sculptural ladder backs and solid wood frames. There are 4 side chairs and two captains chairs! The chairs have new high density foam and chenille chartreuse fabric. This is an incredible fully restored set ready for its next lifetime of use!
