Sharing the bittersweet news that we have made the difficult decision to close A Little More Like Home. Our online shop and brick and mortar will be closing this summer.
Thank you for your support and interest in our small business and sharing our enthusiasm for great vintage mid century modern design and restoration! Jeff and I will always be enthusiasts, but the time for being store owners and the many associated hats that go along with that job will be coming to an end.
A Little More Like Home started as a way to support what our family needed - in 2021 what that meant was for me (Elise) to be home with our baby and toddler, as we struggled to find reliable childcare. Jeff has always split his time between a full-time job and the heavy lifting of the shop, but I had the privilege to be a stay at home mom when our boys were small. At that time the boys were also in good health and we had the assistance of Jeff's dad, Larry, for both backup childcare and lots of furniture runs, estate sales, deliveries, and pick ups.
2025 brought the sudden loss of Larry and the unexpected news that both of our boys have Cystinosis, a genetic disorder that harms the cells in their whole body - especially the kidneys, as well as adding Jeff's ailing mother, Pam, to our household. This year I also began working part-time. These changes have greatly affected the time and energy that we have. Now the best thing for our family is to focus on managing their care and being available to them.
We still have some very cool pieces in the shop, while supplies last! We plan to hold a final liquidation sale in the next few weeks.
